About Us

About UsWelcome to Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital's website. Dr. Fenner and our team have been serving the pets of Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, 4S Ranch, Poway, Carmel Mountain Ranch and other areas of north San Diego County for over 25 years. . We have been an accredited American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA, go to aahanet.com) member hospital since opening. We are also a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association, CaliforniaVeterinary Medical Association, and San Diego County Veterinary Medical Aassociation. Our goal is to provide you and your pets with the best possible care in a professional, compassionate, comfortable family setting. We believe that pets are part of the family and we hope to keep them healthy and happy for many years to come. Our objectives are the same as yours, To keep your pets healthy; To return them to health if they become ill or injured; and To provide relief from pain, fear or discomfort. We will always recommend the care and treatment that we choose for our own furry family members. We believe strongly in preventive care. Many conditions can be prevented, or treated more easily, if identified in their early stages. For this reason, we recommend a yearly physical examination, parasite check, necessary laboratory tests, and appropriate vaccinations for all pets. In older pets, more frequent examinations may be advisable, since each year of a dog's or cat's life is equivalent to five years of a human's life. We believe that well-informed owners can provide better care for their pets. For this reason we try to explain to you the details of your pet's diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. If you have any questions at any time about your pet's condition or about pet health care in general, do not hesitate to ask. At this site, you will find information about our practice philosophy, our services, helpful forms to assist you and an extensive Pet Medical Library for you to search for additional information. Please browse through our entire site. If you want more information, about our practice please go to the Contact Us page and use one of the convenient methods to communicate with us. Thank you for visiting our website. The Doctors and staff at Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital look forward to serving you.

The discharge may be watery, mucoid (gray, ropy), mucopurulent (yellow-green, thickened) or bloody. In general, the more discharge present, the more serious the disease. It is common for eye discharge to be associated with other symptoms such as pain, squinting, redness or rubbing at the eye.
